The following documents are required for the repatriation of remains:
- Death Certificate
- Zimbabwean Birth Certificate, National ID, Passport and Residential Permit. In many cases most of the documents will not be available. We therefore require at least 2 documents, with one being a photo ID of the deceased. Additionally, the next of kin will need to bring proof of their identity (Passport or Zimbabwean National ID card) and x2 copies of all the documents listed.
- Where ashes are being repatriated to Zimbabwe, the Embassy will require a Cremation Certificate in addition to the abovementioned documents.
We also expect that by the time a family requests for the services of repatriation a Funeral Parlour will have been engaged.
Please be advised that Zimbabwean law does not permit for a foreign national to be repatriated to Zimbabwe unless the deceased had a residential permit for Zimbabwe.
