Passport Application

Please be advised of the following documents that are required for a passport renewal:

  • Original and photocopy of Zimbabwean Long Birth Certificate
  • Original and photocopy of National Registration Card (Chitupa), for those 16 years of age and above. Zimbabwe National ID cards are only processed and issued in Zimbabwe meaning that you will need to travel to Zimbabwe to obtain one if you had not previously done so, or if you have lost it.
  • Marriage Certificate and photocopy for married women – (ID should be in married name)
  • Proof of citizenship if calming citizenship in Zimbabwe was by decent, registration or naturalisation.
  • Old style passport (where the biodata page is on page 2, make sure you photocopy pages 1 -5) New passport (photocopy the biodata pages which are the last 2 pages of the passport. If your passport is lost, you will need to bring a police report if your local police station can provide one for you.
  • An administration fee of £65 is charged by the Embassy for all passport applications whilst the processing fee is paid for in Zimbabwe.
  • 2 x colour photographs 4.5 cm long by 3.5 cm wide, taken from a studio with a white background and you will need to be wearing dark coloured upper clothes (no earrings, no glasses, minimal makeup, no polo-necks – if applicant has long hair/ braids/ weave, make sure you tie your hair up to show your ears, and your neck)

At least one original Zimbabwean ID document is required to start the application process from the Embassy but upon submission to the Registrar General’s Office, the Applicant needs to ensure that the above listed documents have been availed.

INFORMATION REGARDING PROCESSING OF A PASSPORT APPLICATION

Please be advised of the following:

  1. Processing of passport application, including payment of processing fee is done in Zimbabwe. This procedure can either be done by the applicant when s/he travels to Zimbabwe or by a third party/ nominee residing in Zimbabwe who is a relative of the Applicant.
  2. It is the responsibility of the Applicant to send the application form to Zimbabwe for processing.
  3. Passport application forms can be processed at the following Passport Offices in Zimbabwe:

Harare, Bulawayo, Gweru, Mutare, Gwanda, Masvingo, Murewa, Mazowe, Marondera, Chipinge, Mwenezi, Marondera, Beitbridge, Hwange, Guruve, Chitungwiza, Lupane

 

All passports are processed in Zimbabwe and not at the Embassy. The passport processing fee to be paid at the Passport Office in Zimbabwe is:

               USD $170. 00 for ordinary processing which can take up to 21 working days.

               USD $270.00 up to 48 hrs.

Please be advised that the Processing Fee and processing times may change as may be advised by the Passport Office.

  • A complete passport application form to be sent to Zimbabwe should consist of the following documents:
  1. A stamped passport application form (P1);
  2. Certified copies of birth certificate, ID and relevant pages of the old passport; including the page affixed the visa sticker/ proof of residence if you are a UK permanent resident.
  • Stamped passport size photos;
  1. Original receipt issued by the Embassy (retain a copy); and
  2. The letter authorising your nominee to submit the application and also collect the new passport once it is issued.
  1. Once the new Passport is ready for collection the Applicants is required to present the old Passport to the Embassy for cancelation (if the passport is still valid) and then transmit photocopies of cancelled Passport page to the nominee to enable Applicant to collect the new passport, unless the old passport has been sent to Zimbabwe with the new application
  1. Passport Cancellation

 

An Applicant for a passport will be required to cancel a valid passport in order to collect a newly issued passport by the Registrar General’s Office.

Applicant can either bring the passport to the Embassy for cancellation or send the passport to the Embassy with a self-addressed prepaid envelope with a cover note requesting cancellation of passport.

2. Applying for Passport for Minor residing in Zimbabwe

If you are applying for a Passport for a Minor who is resident in Zimbabwe, a Parent or a Legal Guardian can apply for a Section 5 Declaration. The following documents will be required:

  • Parent/ Guardians Zimbabwe National ID or valid Passport
  • £25 cash payment

Each child will require their own set of documents, for example, if 2 children reside in Zimbabwe, Parent or guardian will need to bring two photocopies of their National ID/ Passport and £50.
