Authenticating UK Documents

In the event that a married woman decides to assume her husband’s name, she will need to first of all change her Zimbabwean National ID to the new name. The same applies in the event of a divorce, to revert back to a maiden name, the Zimbabwean National ID needs to be changed. This process cannot be done at the Embassy. The Applicant will have to travel to Zimbabwe with a Marriage Certificate or a Divorce Certificate. If the Marriage Certificate or Divorce Certificate was issued in Zimbabwe, the documents will be accepted as they are in their original form. If, however, the Marriage Certificate or Divorce Certificate is a UK issued document/ or issued in the Republic of Ireland – you will need to make sure that the Document is authenticated by the Foreign Office.
